How Support Teams Should Review a Delivery Photo Dispute
Published September 4, 2026.
A delivery photo can help locate a parcel, but it rarely proves who received it. Good support work starts by separating what the image shows from what the team assumes.
Confirm the order and location
Verify the customer through the approved method, then confirm the order number, delivery address, carrier event, and delivery window. Ask whether the customer recognizes the doorway, mailroom, desk, or neighboring property. Do not ask them to publish private details in an insecure channel.
Record observations in neutral language. "Photo shows a brown door" is supportable. "Customer's parcel was stolen" is a conclusion that the photo cannot establish.
Follow a timed search path
Use the client's approved steps for household checks, reception desks, safe places, and nearby delivery points. Give the customer one clear checkpoint. If the carrier requires a waiting period, explain when it ends and what support will do next.
One named case owner should track the investigation. A carrier handoff does not end the obligation to update the customer.
Escalate with a complete packet
Send the decision owner the verified address, scan event, image reference, customer observations, search steps, and requested remedy. Support should not promise a refund or replacement unless policy grants that authority.
Review these cases weekly for repeat contacts, missing evidence, carrier response time, and remedies reversed later. The goal is not to reject claims quickly. It is to reach a defensible decision while keeping the customer informed.
